Very close to bus and train station. Stayed 3 nights total. We stayed one night, then flew to Germany for a few days and then Flew back and stayed here for 2 more nights. The first night our room was upgraded. The room was very nice. When we returned we had a different room right below the train tracks. This room was bit more cramped and noisy. We are city folk so it didn't bother us much but it may be very problematic for some people. It might be helpful to ask for a room closer to the front of the hotel and away from the train noise. We didn't eat or drink in the hotel. Breakfast was unfortunately not included. Overall staff was friendly, stored our luggage for us while we were in Munich. Overall good for the price. I recommend looking into the hop on hop off bus tours while you are in Dublin. Very helpful in seeing the whole city!

We have been in Dublin before. We stayed at the Jurys Inn, Custom House. It has a very nice location. Mu husband booked the North Star and Yes, the staff was ok. We stayed one night and went to the Fitzwiiliam for business for a couple of days. Wonderful. The North Star might as well be in the train station! The breakfast area is down in the basement. Very average hotel. Not that convenient to Temple Bar and surrounded by highways to cross. I would avoid this location.

Friendly staff and the best part of all was Kiernan, the Concierge. He is a wonderful resource for information, e.g., where to go, what to see, planning side trips and making the arrangements. Our first time in Dublin was greatly enhanced by his knowledge and willingness to help. We chose this hotel blindly off the internet because of its proximity to the bus and train, and in particular the fact that the bar is to the side of the hotel and not directly under the rooms, thus making it quiet. The train does run directly over the reception area, but we didn't hear it in the room. I would definitely stay here again.

If you are unluckly enought to get a room in the front of the hotel, you wil hear and feel the train go buy frequently. Ask for a room in the back by the parking lot. It's not in a great part of town, so safety is a concern in the late hours. The bar/restaurants were fair, not good. The staff was nice though and most of them went out of their way to help. The food in Ireland overall is bad, so sending yourself a care package from the states beforehand would be a great idea. Good travels to you.

I stayed at the North Star recently and did not really expect to much but was pleasantly surprised. It is very convenient to all everything you would ever need in the city. It is right next to the main bus terminal, across the street from a train terminal, a tram runs almost outside the door and the staff are so friendly. What more could we ask for. The bar was lovely and lively and enjoyed some delicious pub food served by a bartender called Seamus. Talk about irish hospitality. We will definitely be back next time we visit Dublin.
